Yokai are Japanese supernatural creatures. Some are mischievous. Some are protective. Some are straight-up dangerous. This one falls into that third category.
Japanese mythology is full of demon yokai – oni with horns and clubs, tengu with crow beaks, all kinds of creatures that sit somewhere between god and monster. They’re not evil exactly, but they’re not friendly either. They exist in that in-between space where the rules get fuzzy.
The Design
This yokai design uses teal and orange – colors you see in traditional Japanese woodblock prints but rendered in a way that feels current. The demon’s expression is aggressive without being cartoonish. The Japanese text and geometric elements frame the figure like a warning poster from another era.
